Which would you choose? I’m tired of my crappy Windows phone and it’s lack of apps, and it’s new inability of staying on a webpage for more than a minute. Also, it’s camera sucks, but here’s a Unimog down the street from me.

As an iPhone owner? I’d go with the S6. The iPhone 5 series (even the 5S) was a low point for Apple. And even iPhone 6 v. Galaxy S6, I’d still say S6.

If you can wait a month, the S7 will be unveiled in a few weeks. http://gizmodo.com/samsung-galaxy…

I had a 5s and honestly like my S6 edge much better. Battery life is a little lower with the Samsung, but it’ll easily make a day on a charge without having to use the low power mode.

I just did the switch from a 5 to an s6 edge. The 5 was actually a decent phone. I had it for 3 years without it having any major issues. However I did somehow manage to install the bent phone app that affects the 6's on my 5 while it was in a lifeproof case.... That was pretty much the main reason I traded it in. I didn’t feel like the 6/6s was a major upgrade from the 5.

I’m not looking to spend that much. The S6 is really pushing it financially.

If you’re going Android, Nexus.

The S6 is awesome, outstanding and amazing, but the best experience on Google’s phones is on phones designed for Google software, not Samsung tack-ons.

I had the S3, the LG G3 and will get the new 5X or whatever it is.

I am like an iPhone expert, can like take one apart and rebuild it with my eyes closed...but despite how much I like them, high end Androids are so much better.

Have you looked at a Galaxy S5? You can get one in awesome condition and unlocked for like $200.

02/04/2016 at 11:51

Kinja'd!!!1

Nah man don’t assume that. The iPhone 5C was WAY cheaper than the 5S and also made the original 5 dirt cheap (like $50-$100 cheap), if they release that then the 5S will drop in price too. It’s not a new model, it’s a new budget model. The iPhone 7 will still be released in Sept.

Personally I don’t like Galaxy phones and when my cousin got the newest Galaxy note 5 back in December me and my friend (who also has a 6S just like me) kept making fun of him. So he goes “Let’s compare the camera!” And we did and there is no competition the iPhone smoked the Galaxy in terms of color reproduction and low light ability.

Anything but an iphone. I know some people love them, but being stuck with one as a company phone I detest it. The software mostly. And that’s before I take the horrible value into consideration. I’d personally take a Galaxy S5 over an iphone 6S, when priced similarly.

Lumia 830. I side-graded from a Lumia 920 and I like the 830 quite a bit. Getting the unlocked international version gets you Qi wireless charging along with the normal removable battery and micro-SD card slot.

That said, I don’t blame you for leaving Windows. I would say get a Google Nexus phone rather than anything Samsung makes. Their version of Android sucks and makes life difficult when it shouldn’t be.

Okay. Clearly no point in trying to dissuade you from switching. Microsoft isn’t really helping their case here either.

From my experience on Android, as I have one for work, Samsung fucks it up and getting a Google Nexus device will make the OS leaner and less of a headache.

I’ve bounced back and forth between the two ecosystems, and they both have their advantages. That being said, I like the Samsung over the iPhone.

As was mentioned before, you might want to consider a Nexus 5X. You can buy from Google unlocked for any carrier. It should be a breeze to set this up on your existing cell phone account.

And speaking of cell phones, which carrier are you using? I recommend everyone I know to switch to prepaid. You get the same thing for a much cheaper cost usually, and no contract (or taxes most of the time).

Heh, can’t be worse than my iPhone 6. Once the battery drops to 20%, the phone will die at any point it chooses. And if there is so much as a slightly cold wind chill, the phone dies after 5 minutes of exposure unless the battery is at 60% or more.

As far as Android check out the Nexus 6P. Can be purchased off contract unlocked. Most reviewers claim it is the best Android phone out right now. I recently purchased one and I am very happy with it. You get the newest updates soon after they are released by Google and there is no Samsung bloatware on the device like you would find on the Galaxy and Note models.

It can be difficult to use a phone that’s too hot to hold. However, I would recommend the Note 4 instead of the S5. To me, it’s the last really good Android phone. You get all the customization you get in an Android phone, it has a removable battery, a MicroSD card slot, and the camera is very solid.

I do. I like how quickly it works. I love the look of the OS, and it is only until recently that iOS and Android have improved; Android is finally looking okay. I switched from an iPhone 3GS to Windows Phone, and I ordered my Lumia 920 the day it was available.

None of the OSs are perfect. iOS is too controlling. Android is too fragmented and a huge security risk. Windows Mobile should be a solid third option as the OS allows more freedom to customize how it feels while not being a huge security risk. And while there are fewer apps, most of the ones that people complain about aren’t Microsoft’s fault for being absent. Google is never going to play nice with MS until MS has enough market share to bully them into it. And by making sure that MS does not have deep Google integration ensure MS will never gain that market share.

Now, my 830 works just fine with my Gmail accounts, but most people won’t know that because they automatically dismiss Windows phone because, “It’s from MS, and MS is evil.” “I hate those guys.” “I can’t use/do this one inane thing that really has zero actual bearing on my daily usage, but I irrationally cannot live without that ability when buying a phone.” reasons.

My 830 works perfectly well as, gasp, a phone. It makes calls. I can browse websites. I can read news. It has a decent camera. I get emails. So what if I can’t play whatever game that just dropped?

Sigh.../rant/ over. Nothing to see here. Move along.

I do... It is extremely easy to use, the Live Tiles give you all the information YOU want to have at a glance and it is super smooth. Those are some of the top reasons and for me personally the tiles do the trick.

I went to an iPhone now because I don’t want to go through the awkward transition phase from WP8.1 to W10M. But boy does the iPhone suck in information presentation. Even Android does better with it’s widgets, but Windows Phone/Mobile should be at the top of your list if you want immediate access to info you want to see.

So yeah, if developers would be willing to make an effort to give their apps feature parity with iOS or Android versions, I would be back on Windows 10 Mobile in a heartbeat.

I can see what you mean for sure. I just really enjoy using iOS, my smartphone life was Treo with Palm OS, Treo with Windows Mobile, PocketPC (HTC Mogul) then different Windows Mobile phones before jumping to Android for a few years and finally to iOS.

When iOS and Android were competing I was firmly in the Android camp. Flashing new ROMs, opening up different forms of customization, different launchers and side loading cool apps. I hated iPhones and their restrictions. However over time I just wanted something that worked really well out the box and iOS did it for me. My first iPhone was a 4S and it’s been great ever since.
